Ways you can volunteer
Our volunteers support people in different ways. Opportunities may include:
- Providing one-to-one support to a learner or befriendee
- Helping someone build literacy, numeracy, communication or digital skills
- Supporting learners taking part in a group or working towards a qualification
- Helping someone build confidence and become more involved in their community
- Supporting a member of our learning or befriending team
- Helping us develop accessible learning resources
- Sharing your volunteering experience to help promote our work
Not every type of opportunity is available in every area. We will discuss the current opportunities with you when you enquire.
What support will I receive?
You do not need to be an expert. We are interested in people who are friendly, reliable, patient and committed to treating others with dignity and respect.
Before you begin, we will talk to you about the role and the support you need. Volunteers receive an induction, relevant training and ongoing support from a named member of staff. We will also explain any checks required for the role and how agreed expenses can be claimed.
